Girls Recruiting Coordinator
CJ Sherman
CJ Sherman has been an integral part of JJVA since 2005, serving as the Recruiting Coordinator since 2009. With extensive experience in both coaching and recruiting, CJ has guided over 300 Jacksonville area athletes to achieve their dream of playing college volleyball. Prior to her recruitment role, CJ had a successful NCAA coaching career, with coaching stops at Palm Beach Atlantic University (1988–1994), the University of South Carolina Aiken (1994–1998), and the University of Montevallo (1999–2004), where she earned 300 wins and was honored by the AVCA. CJ provides expert athlete recruiting support for girls’ volleyball recruiting and is dedicated to helping athletes navigate the volleyball recruiting process.

Girls and Boys Recruiting Coordinator
Melanie Gorter
Melanie, known as Mel, joined JJVA as a Head Coach in 2021 and stepped into the Boys Volleyball Recruiting Coordinator role in 2022 to meet the growing need for connections with collegiate men’s programs. With 15+ years of experience as a coach at the club, high school, and college levels, Mel brings a wealth of knowledge to the volleyball recruiting space. She has also gained international experience, coaching teams in Europe, Central America, and Asia. Starting in June 2024, Mel will focus on girls’ volleyball recruiting, assisting the Class of 2026, 2027, and 2028 athletes in building connections with top NCAA volleyball programs, NAIA volleyball recruiting, and more through the Sports Recruiting Platform and FieldLevel.
Mel will continue to work with Boys Volleyball Recruiting efforts, especially with the Class of 2025 and 2026 on both sides of the program. She is passionate about helping athletes secure volleyball scholarships and connect with top volleyball recruiting programs.
